The Desert
The Sahara.., its history blends with the history of mankind. Its rich minerais supplied a whole continent. A secret place, mysterious and tantalising. The expanse of sand, of rock, the visions of mirages and cases.., the stuff of dreams.
En route, several attractive places punctuate the journey. Tan-Tan beach, right by the sea. A little further along the coast Cape Juby, Tarfaya and Laayoune, a modern town rising triumphantly from the sands. Then Smara, spiritual capital of the Sahara, in the very heart of the Saguia AI Hamra. At the southernmost point, at the mouth of the Rio de Oro, Ad’Dakhla… an ideal fishing spot in one of the prettiest bays of the coastal Sahara.
